Children are as much a part of our church community as adults, and we want them to feel welcome in all we do. We aim to offer activities which provide children with a space to learn and grow in the Christian faith as well as services that help them to know they are part of the whole church family.
10am Family Service
The 10am family service has Sunday School classes for children on the first 3 Sundays of the month. The service begins in the church and a short way into the service the children are invited to go with one of the Sunday School team to their classes.
On the 4th Sunday the service is especially suitable for all ages so that children can attend church with their parents and take part in the service.
Sunday School – Godly Play
St George’s uses the Godly Play method in its Sunday School classes. Godly Play classes are led by a “storyteller” who brings bible stories to life with the help of models and pictures. Children are encouraged to ask questions and share their reactions to the stories, and can respond creatively using art and craft materials. The stories follow the Christian calendar so that seasons like Advent and special occasions like Christmas and Easter are given meaning.
Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation Classes
We run separate classes to prepare children for baptism, first communion or confirmation. Please contact the church office if you are interested.
